We arranged a choir to accompany the boy band Blake in April 2014
Excerpt from the Borehamwood and Elstree Times:
Last Friday at the Radlett Centre saw an amazing group of
singers from 6 different choirs from all over Hertfordshire come together as
one ensemble, called 'Ursa Major' to accompany Blake, the famous singing group
nicknamed 'the opera hunks' Blake regularly appear on TV, in venues such as
Wembley Stadium and the Albert Hall, and who have sung for the Queen. The
choirs ranged from barbershop to classical, teenagers to adults - it was
great to have singers with such different experiences joining together.
They accompanied Blake in five songs, 'Nessum Dorma', 'You raise me up',
'Halleluja', 'Up where we belong' and ended with 'Jerusalem'. The choir
also opened the second half with a solo item, 'Adiemus', accompanied by
percussion and recorder brilliantly played by the teenagers Orla, Kirthi and
Elissa. It was a great evening of music, much appreciated by the audience
and singers alike!
The choirs, Amersham A Cappella, Carillon, Jubilate, Lemon
Tuesday, Singing Circle and Ursa Minor will definitely combine again for future
events. "It was lovely to meet
other singers, perform with Blake and sing music we do not usually have the
opportunity to learn" commented Karen, one of the members of Jubilate.
